Here are some “better” shots I got from the Pinoy Pride XX box fight last week end. I tried to capture the facial expressions of the athlete, which I realised, is challenging (for me), as they are constantly moving (particularly upper body part) and / or protecting their face. Ya i know, the guys are making fun of me, such as, “You think they will stop and pose for you?” :-P.

Last Saturday night, I went to watch a box fight for the first time in my life. I am not at all a big fan of boxing. I am the type who will definitely either a. leave the room, or b. switch the channel if a box fight is on on tv. But this time, after making sure that camera is allowed, I do want to watch, just for taking picture and for the sake of being able to say, yes, I have been to a box fight.
So I was sitting there clicking away, struggling with camera setting. Being behind the camera, I actually concentrated more on the picture taking process, rather than watching the real fight itself. Until my memory card is full (can’t believe I clicked the button more than 800 times?). Gotta select and delete. Then my battery died (no spare, as I never thought that a non-stop usage of 3 hours-ish can suck the battery life out). Sooo beginner’s problem, right?
As I no longer can use the camera, then I finally really, i mean, really watch the fight. And I realised something. This actually is my first, and will be my last, watching a box fight. Don’t get me wrong. I do respect the sport. Boxers lead a tough life with tough training. But being beaten up left and right is not what I enjoy watching. I find it to be depressive to watch the process of a smooth face transferred into a bloody swollen one. I know this will be a sport to which I would firmly stand my ground and say NO to my kids (if they ever be interested in it).

inThis abstract photo is actually reflection of the water in the pool, projected onto the ceiling through the wooden window jaluzzi, which happens every late afternoon. I find it interesting to watch the animated lines moving tirelessly. But once you take a snap of it, it reminds me of barcode, thus the title.

inI am dragging the time when my sons will say : “Mom, I don’t want any birthday cake in school anymore”. When that day comes, I know I will be feeling sad, realising another milestone is happening. Until that day comes, I would be very happy to bake any cake they want, with whatever design they’d like to have.
So my first son is turning 9 today. In line with the party he’d like to have this coming weekend, he chose snorkelling as the theme of the oreo cupcakes which he requested. Here are (some of) 30 cupcakes for his schoolmates and teachers, which finished in no time, plus some requests of another badge for their sleepover event next week.

The kids caught some millipedes in the garden and right away adopted them as their new pets (which lasted for 15 minutes before they got bored and returned them). They built ‘playground’ for these tiny arthropods, by arranging some white rocks around. But obviously this particular one would rather wondering around by itself than playing in the newly built playground.

Equipped with fins, he tried to imitate how Jesus Lizard (Basilisk Lizard) runs on water. Without doubt, it was an unsuccessful event. However, he had fun just by repeatedly trying it over and over again.

I was sitting on top of the waterfall-like water feature at the pool, trying to capture the water bubbles when suddenly my little one emerged, messing around with the waterfall. I love this portrait very much, despite his right arm looking imperfect, covered by the water bubbles.

inWe went go-kart-ing last Sunday (by we, it means, they went while I walked around taking pictures ;-)). The boys were so excited thinking that they could drive on their own, which of course, not allowed. So they had to be happy sitting on the passenger seat, one at a time.
I am quite happy with what I captured, particularly the one above. I managed to get the panning sort of right. Focusing on them, while the foreground and background are blurry.
By the time they were done (8 rounds for each boy), I also found out that I will never be a mom of the future Schumacher, as their first comments were, “Mama, I felt so sick after the 5th or 6th round!” :-). Well, at least I found out early enough 🙂

Sometimes we forget these “little people”. People whose task is less significant in any event, but without whom the event would not be as organized as it suppose to be.
I captured this lady during the triathlon a couple of week ago. I was sitting on the ground next to a drink station capturing the running leg when I noticed that, not only she was collecting the big bottles (which I believe is sellable), but she was also helping to pick up the sponges scattered on the ground.
