My post for today is suggested and conceptualized by my 7 years old.

It started  this afternoon when I took them out for lunch. Upon entering a Chinese restaurant, my 7 and 9 years old boys read an advertisement board promoting shark fin soup. Their faces changed right away. While sitting down, they grilled me with all the questions about how a restaurant can still sell shark fins, knowing that they are at a brink of extinction. Seizing the opportunity, I told them to ask the manager themselves.

So I called the manager and told him that the kids wanted to speak to him. My little one, almost in tears, asked (unedited), “Why do you still sell shark fin soup? Did you know that actually only 10% of shark habitat left in this world?” The manager didn’t seem to get his question.

On the way home, my son came up with the idea of him being interviewed and of putting it in my blog post for today. So there we were in our living room. I was the interviewer, asking him various questions about the subject. This is his message (again, unedited) before we ended our ‘interview’ : “My conclusion is you should stop buying shark fin soup and you have to watch national geographic so that you know a lot about what you should and should not do when you go to places with a lot of sharks.”
