I normally love to prepare my kids’ birthday cake / cupcakes. I let them choose the theme, then look for design inspiration based on their chosen theme (thank you Pinterest!)
When the kids joined their current school, we were briefed about their birthday party regulations. I took it literally and seriously. Therefore, I didn’t prepare anything for my son’s birthday today.
But yesterday he was so adamant about wanting to bring cakes to school, which I equally replied adamantly that it’s school policy and it’s just not allowed. Until we finally spoke to his class teacher. And guess what? He won! It’s allowed :-). Of course with numbers of limitations and “do’s and don’ts”, but basically, it’s allowed.
It’s passed 5 o’clock by the time we got home yesterday, and baking was the last item on the list I would like to do. So I told him to discuss his wish with a pastry chef and here’s what they finally came up with. Squares of brownies (no nut), decorated with chocolate sails.
We had a bunch of über happy 3rd graders when we brought them to school this morning.
