At the end of March, we took a time off and travelled to Kalimantan (Borneo). We went to a few islands in the east part of Kalimantan. I can’t describe how beautiful the place is, however I do hope that the pictures I took can slightly represent that.
I will have some posts showing the beauty of the islands and maybe one day you can visit them too.

Living in Jakarta, the kids get less and less exposed to triathlon. I would say almost no triathlon is organised for kids here. We have to put more effort for them to participate in races overseas before they slowly losing that sporty competitive spirit.
Here’s a couple of shots of them finishing the swimming leg during Aquathlon, which is part of Metasprint Series in Singapore on 8 February.

The view of the first picture can unfortunately be found on beaches in various parts of the world. Beach littered with plastic bottles, packaging and other kinds of plastic waste.
When we are staying in 5-star resort we hardly notice the ‘insignificant’ staff who work hard to clean up the beach very early in the morning. We only know that the beach is clean and orderly, ready to be enjoyed after our breakfast. Maybe we should notice more these behind-the-scene staff.
In a mission to reduce the plastic waste, particularly plastic bottles, resorts and hotel in general can or should use a hygienic glass bottle, which is can be replenished daily.

Sipping our drinks while watching the sunset on the beach bar (with some 30 people or so, busy with their cameras), my son asked, “Why everyone is so eager to take photos of sunset? Isn’t it happening everyday? Sunrise, sunset, no matter where you are?”
He’s absolutely right. In this instant world, everyone is so busy with their gadgets, snapping pictures here and there, which makes you wonder, whether we are actually enjoying THE moment, or has the importance of the moment moved aside, sneaking underneath the eagerness to get a perfect photograph of the moment?
While I’m pondering on that thought, I almost missed the sunset, so let me quickly snap just one picture 😛

It’s very obvious that my kids love love love beach. They are happy just to play on the beach the whole day, walking, swimming, splashing away, hunting for various things, it seems that the fun is endless.
Here’s another finding on the beach last month when we went back to where we used to live before, Cebu, Philippines. Another shot of him and a hermit crab can also be found here.

For my kids, going to the beach used to be a weekend treat. Every weekend. Sometimes even twice or three times weekly. But now as we live in Jakarta, it is just not feasible. Therefore, you can imagine how happy they are every time we bring them to beach destinations during their break. Which I hope can be seen on this picture.

Granting their wish to learn how to surf, I enrolled the kids for daily surfing class during our recent holiday in Bali. They had a tremendous great time, not complaining even though they have to wake up relatively early to catch the waves. Here are some shots of their fall.
