An idea came to me to make a different version of clutches for my brand Widja Broderie, by using tassels as part of design. After sourcing various tassels, I tested them on few aspects. One of the most important one is, whether the colour will come off. While soaking it in hot water, the pretty colours invited me to photograph it.

Sitting in the car which is stuck in traffic jam amidst rainy day in Jakarta, I luckily have my camera, ample of time to play around with manual focus and managed to snap this picture. I love how the other cars outside unexpectedly compliment the rainbow effect as the background.

When I was small, a birthday party was NOT a birthday party without the presence of these tiny heaven-like gem drops. Known locally as ‘kue kancing’, these colorful sweet merinque just melt in your mouth.
My siblings and I used to separate the biscuit bottoms from the colorful merinque tops. Eating the biscuit first, we were saving the best for last. Of course we really have to watch out, as once you are off guard, the precious sugar drops can transfered to somebody else’s mouth :-).

It’s that time of the year again.
Every 1st of December, we start our advent calendar. It’s like warming up exercise to Christmas Eve :-). What is it not to like? It’s a nice way to spoil the kids. They wake up every morning, eager to find out what is inside the package of the day. I fill them up with small things like stationaries, tiny toys, gummy bear, kinderüberraschung. Their facial expressions every morning when they wake up is just priceless.
I never buy a ready made advent calendar, simply because I love to make different ones. But this year we reused ones from last year. I just hang them on empty walls in front of their playroom, instead of hanging them along the stairs like last year.
I made all those folded wheels and wonder, is there a special name for it?

Last week the kids had a very interesting party at school, whereby they combined 3 different festivities into 1 big celebration. Helped by some moms, they transformed 3 classes altogether, where each class hosted deepavali, thanksgiving and halloween.
Above are the colored rice which they use to decorate rangoli, rice art which is typical in deepavali celebration.
