Waiting to board the aircraft in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan for our spring holiday, I captured the silhouette of my father-in-law, my husband and our 2 sons. Three generations in 1 shot. Very happy with the result.

The view of the first picture can unfortunately be found on beaches in various parts of the world. Beach littered with plastic bottles, packaging and other kinds of plastic waste.
When we are staying in 5-star resort we hardly notice the ‘insignificant’ staff who work hard to clean up the beach very early in the morning. We only know that the beach is clean and orderly, ready to be enjoyed after our breakfast. Maybe we should notice more these behind-the-scene staff.
In a mission to reduce the plastic waste, particularly plastic bottles, resorts and hotel in general can or should use a hygienic glass bottle, which is can be replenished daily.

Along the way, we met several Porters walking up or down. From our guide, I learnt that, as the rest house up there is very secluded, all supply need to be brought from the base, including 35 kg gas bottle. All waste from the rest house are also brought down by these porters.
They charge RM 3,90 / kg one-way to the rest house operator. While from tourists, they can earn better money at RM 10 / kg.
I kid you not, there was a lady who need to be carried down from the rest house (piggy back style) by a porter (shorter than her). I thought that he would walk down slowly with a heavy weight on his back, but how I was wrong 🙂
